I got some nice Framsticks, i hope they aren't boring on you.

The first one is a creature with two arms to get forward. At the front it
got a Stamina (S) reinforced sting. I use to call this creature crawler
Crawler. I built the physical structure and let him then evolve (only Neural
Networks)

The next is probably familiar to all. It's a sea snake that moves under
water. The NN is plenty evolved.

Wheels

Hi all,

I'm enjoying Framsticks for some two weeks now and have been wandering if
there's a way to evolve a wheel-based land creature or something that moves
using rotation in water.

Am I doing something wrong, or is it the program??

Whenever I set up an evolution for speed, starting with Uwuwit Si, the
simplest stick, on land but especially in water, it always evolves towards
very wormy creatures. They hardly ever have a branch in the body. Is this a
standard experience? I'd like to evolve some more interesting and more
complex creatures, but I'm not sure why it never does. I simply can't
imagine that the fastest creatures possible are worm/snake type. Why does
nothing more complex ever pop up? I'm assuming I have a setting wrong, or is

Amphibious Frams, cont.

So im still struggling with the amphibious fram problem. Rather
addicting.....Anyway, my problem is that i seem to just have ended up with
long snake frams which are fast in the water (around .03) but worthless on
land (6.???e-5). I was wondering if anyone else had tried this, and what
might be a good way to evolve amphibians? Im only evolving towards speed at
the moment....would evolving towards vertical position help maybe? or would
i just get land creatures then...at least, thats my worry. Any ideas? Hell,

Stick Weight

Hi Maciej,

I was wondering if stick weight will be variable, in air, in Framstics 2?

I have built many Frams that can't seem to hold themselves up under their
own weight.

question of vert velocity

Question:

What would be a reason to evolve for vertical velocity? It seems the frams
can't ever fly, but what about a low weight fram that hops.....would it be
able to push itself off the ground enough to simulate a "flight" ?

Amphibious Fram report

Hi. Ive been running an amphibious fram test. Im well into the billions of
generations, and things are still going slow. Im rather disappointed with
the "outcome".

The fastest successful genotype (one thats been well tested in the world) is
included at the end of this post. He's just a little wormy thing and only
travels, on average, at a velocity of .007 --- not that great. Maybe macej
has some hints on how to evolve amphibious frams more efficiently -- mine
were simply geared towards speed.

Easter Bunny

Hi all!

New to Alife and Framsticks as of about a week ago, I find all this
completely amazing and great fun; not to mention an excellent 'use' of idle
computer time at work... ;)

It would be nice if the window positions and data columns didn't reset each
time you start it up (takes me several minutes each time I'm forced to start
over for whatever reason) and OpenGL crashes on my laptop if there are any
sticks in the world (probably the hardware/driver's fault, that) and OpenGL
simply goes banannas on my Win2000 box at work...

...but even after that, it is still one of the top 2 programs I've ever come
across on the web! (The other being Life32. And check out sodaplay.com too -
not really related, but it might give you some ideas.)

He's a thing that, from a distance, looks just a little bit like an Easter
Bunny bouncing along. If you squint. Or close your eyes....

1) 1 type of genome species that can feed off the enviroment
