I am wondering if there is a way to create creatures similar to those of Carl Sims or Lee Grahams creatures “Purple Jumper” and “Stand up Centipede” . Those creatures consists of rectangular shapes of different size and proportion. So I was trying to use solid shapes with ODE, but when simulating them, it looks like the pivots of the shapes getting offset. Also tried to export the rectangular shapes but in the exported file, they changed back to cylinders.

Hello all,
I am a doctoral student specializing in artificial intelligence, am trying to do a project that requires some control of Framsticks through Python. I am running Linux Mint 17.1. I am therefore wondering if there is an effective way to bootstrap Framsticks in Python, and, if so, what methods have been used successfully. Your help is greatly appreciated. I am sorry if my question is vague, but since my project will be original research, I would prefer not to give away additional details at this time.

Hi,
New user here, trying to get through the tutorial.
In the evolution part it states that you should set delete genotypes to only the worst. The docs say that this should be done in experiment:parameters, but there is no such option in that window. Where can I set that option?
Thanks!

Hello, I have been unable to use Fred because it always crashes upon running. Double-clicking or executing via command line both end the same way. Any thoughts?

I'm trying to create a creature but I have no coding experience. I decided Fred was the best option for me but every time I create a creature and a brain and save them something goes wrong. Fred won't read the file correctly (it says "not right n") so I can't edit anything I have saved. I'm saving them as .gen files and they open in Framsticks just fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello!
I recently discovered the new development version of Framsticks and gave it a try. I'm particularly interested in the new genotype encoding f3 (and f2), but unfortunately there seems not to be any documentation anywhere, at least I was unable to find it. Maybe someone can help me find any information?
Thank you,
jlh

Hi, I have designed a creature structure and muscles which I would like to make walk.I have played about with parameters but constantly run into issues, mainly very slow progression and the simulations seem to stop changing enough (or do I need to be ultra patient,400mil steps so far?). I have managed to set it so the body does not change but I think Iam doing something wrong with the other param's. If anyone could advise on the correct set up for my needs? Any help much appreciated!

Hi!
I have a problem, the fact is that I am developing the code has a bug (division by 0) and Framsticks not give me any information about the error. Is there any way to debug in Framsticks or error messages on the console, report that line has been wrong?
thanks!!

Hello,
My name is Annet, I'm a master student Artificial Intelligence in Nijmegen and for the course Evolutionary Algorithms my partner and I would like to make use of Framsticks. Now we want to do something with evolving small genotypes to f1 genotypes with a sort of grammar. Now we noticed that there are a lot of constraints in the way you can enter an genotype and I was wondering whether there already exist a context-free grammar of this language which we can use a starting point for our grammar.
Hope something already exist.
Regards,
Annet
