question of vert velocity

Question:

What would be a reason to evolve for vertical velocity? It seems the frams
can't ever fly, but what about a low weight fram that hops.....would it be
able to push itself off the ground enough to simulate a "flight" ?

yes, sure! they can jump.

Oh yes, i know they can jump, but does weight of hte stick matter? if the
sticks are lighter will they jump higher, or float back down?

Yes, they would jump higher but temporarily stick weight is disabled,
works only in water.
