Similar creatures, framsticks and natural ones, swimming and terrestial

I can't understand the reason of the swimming creatures are very similar to
the real ones and the terrestrial creatures are very different.

Any one can explain me?

Sorry, and Thanks,

Well, life on earth also started in the water. The simulation seems to
follow this trend. As Maciej said, moving in the water requires much
more simple movements. Good observation!

No need to be sorry, this is an interesting question, and perhaps
worth more serious investigation.

But: are the terrestial ones really different? I think there
are lots of species which move similarly to those evolved
in Framsticks.

What you perhaps noticed is that in water there is not as much
diversity in ways of locomotion than on land. This may be because
in water, the "swimming" movement is simply most efficient,
whereas on land there are multiple ways of locomotion which
look different and have similar efficiency.
